Alex supports Badminton 2010 appointed charity - World Horse Welfare campaign ‘Hands on against horse cruelty’

World Horse Welfare, official charity at the 2010 Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, has partnered with rising Chinese Olympic eventer Alex Hua Tian to launch an exclusive t-shirt in its latest drive to stamp out horse cruelty and abuse.

Every year in the UK the charity handles 30,000 calls and investigates around 1,700 welfare concerns. In the last two years, World Horse Welfare has dealt with more large multi-horse rescues than ever before including the ongoing and shocking case in Amersham, where 31 horses and ponies were found dead and more than 100 were removed to safety. In Europe, World Horse Welfare continues to campaign tirelessly for an end to the single biggest abuse of horses in Europe; the long distance transportation of horses for slaughter. Every year more than 100,000 horses have to endure injury, dehydration, disease, exhaustion and untold stress on these totally needless journeys. This cruel and unnecessary practice must come to an end.

An exclusive t-shirt encouraging people to get ‘Hands on against horse cruelty’ and support the charity in its drive to raise awareness is being launched at Badminton Horse Trials. Eventing star Alex Hua Tian who will be competing at Badminton for the very first time is supporting the launch and will be appearing at World Horse Welfare’s stand to help boost sales. Says Alex:

“Badminton is a specific opportunity for both myself and World Horse Welfare to really bring home the issues of horse cruelty and abuse and make people aware that they can get hands on and make a difference. Welfare is at the very top of my agenda with my own horses and I am happy to be able to offer my support to such a fantastic charity.”

The t-shirt will retail at £6.99 for children and £9.99 for adults and will be available to purchase from the World Horse Welfare stand (stand 99) and online at www.worldhorsewelfare.org
