FBW Chico

16.2 Grey Gelding Baden-Wurtenburger

Chico was bought as a back-up horse, but very soon became the obvious favourite to take to the Olympics. The least experienced of Alex's horses, having been competed successfully by an amateur German rider up to CIC***, the pair clicked almost immediately, after a  disasterous first dressage together at CIC* Barroca D'Alva where they gained 70.3 penalties. The pair pulled themselves together for the CIC*** the next week placing 4th with 44.0 and went on to come second at Bialy Bor CCI***.

Chico is an ultimate professional. The Olympics was a huge step for him. The immense atmosphere, the hissing of the Olympic flame, the huge moving screen all were completely new for him. After being spooked by the  massive TV camera right next to the arena he settled down and relaxed into a creditable test. Cross-country, he and Alex were foot-perfect through the first water until they both missed at Fence 8. It is important to remember that this was only their 6th cross-country course together.

He and Alex put in an insired dressage display to Chinese Music at Express Eventing where the pair acheived 10/10 for artistic impression.
